Unlocking Insights on National Girl Child Day with Ms. Soumya Saxena and Mr. Gagandeep Singh Gurudatta (Action Aid)  

The students of Social Work and Psychology dived into the enlightening Gender Sensitization session conducted by experts Ms. Soumya Saxena and Mr. Gagandeep Singh Gurudatta. They explored the key concepts such as differentiating sex and gender, understanding patriarchy's impact, and investigated societal gender roles. Highlights of the session included discussions on power dynamics, transgression and punishment, and the cooperation that sustains patriarchal systems.

The session's emphasised on men's perspectives, debunking myths around gender discrimination. The talk also unpacked the UN's definition of empowerment and Naila Kabeer's insights, emphasizing agency, resources, and achievements. The session concluded with a call for challenging societal norms and integrating gender perspectives into policies.

The session urged the continuation of such dialogues for a more inclusive and informed community in fostering a gender-sensitive perspective for a brighter, equitable future.
